💛 The 1982 cartoon by the Soviet animation studio "Soyuzmultfilm", directed by Eduard Nazarov, is based on the Ukrainian (Malorossian) folk tale "Serko" (The Grey One). Initially, the cartoon was going to have the title of "A Dog's Life".

Vladimir Zarubin (https://t.me/BeornAndTheShieldmaiden/9409) was one of the animators, working on the film.

The cartoons contains two Ukrainian folk songs. The complete text of the song "Oh, Mother, I love Grits", can be found here (https://www.amalgama-lab.com/songs/d/drevo/oy_mamo_lyublyu_gr_cya.html) in Ukrainian and Russian, with the recording by the "Tree" ensemble here on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtG6nWE-KkI). The second song, "Oh, there, up on the mountain...", performed by the same ensemble, is here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpI6qDYtN70).

🎄 Thanks to the winter scene at the end, it is especially popular to watch this cartoon around the time of New Year!
