An Illinois judge got reassigned and referred to the state Judicial Inquiry Board Friday for allegedly sharing a racist image in a text message.

A recently elected Cook County judge, Caroline Glennon-Goodman, shared this image leaked to the public.

The image parodied a Little Tykes toy box with a picture of a Black child and a foot outfitted with "My First Ankle Monitor." In a screenshot of the text obtained by Injustice Watch, Glennon-Goodman sent the image along with a text saying, "My husband's idea of Christmas humor."

Glennon-Goodman was just elected in 2024 to her first six-year term.
She presided over detention petitions and set conditions of release for people newly accused of crimes. She was a Cook County assistant public defender from 1997 until last year and handled murder cases for nearly two decades.

Injustice Watch first reported on the incident, saying Glennon-Goodman had told a confidant that "the message was intended for a close friend and was instead mistakenly sent to a fellow judge with the same first name."
