Applications are now open for the School Seedlings Program.

From January 13 to March 28, schools and youth education organizations across New York State can apply to receive 25 free seedlings to plant with their students.

Any school, homeschool group, or youth education organization can apply for seedlings. However, there is a requirement. The trees must be planted in New York State.

The seedlings are 2 to 3 years old, approximately 4 to 12 inches tall, and bare root. There are four types of trees that can be awarded for free. These are Jack Pine, Red Oak, River Birch, or Spotted Alder. Each school or organization can only receive one group of seedlings per year.
