KCFD responds to fire at city-owned building, says police evidence room burned

A battalion chief with the Kansas City, Missouri fire department said a fire started in a room where police store evidence early Thursday morning. The fire started at about 12:45 a.m. at the city-owned building near 5300 Municipal Avenue. A spokesman for KCPD confirmed the building held police property and evidence. He said the fire department had turned the scene over to officers so they can begin assessing the damage.
