a Cleveland police officer is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol following a crash in Parma Heights last December.

Parma Heights police on Tuesday released dash and body camera video showing the arrest of 32-year-old Deonte White back on Dec. 6. Officers responded to a report of a Cadillac Escalade hitting a telephone pole off York Road near Valley Forge Drive, with witnesses claiming they saw the driver exit the vehicle and stumble into the street. Upon arrival at the scene, White was located near the crash and escorted away from the wreckage and power lines, with authorities stating his clothing matched a description given to 911 dispatchers.

The police footage shows White denying responsibility for the wreck and telling police the SUV was not his, even through the report states that the car was registered in his name. Following several minutes of "uncooperative" back-and-forth with law enforcement, officers handcuffed him and placed him in one of their cruisers, at which time an emotional White told them he was a member of the Cleveland Division of Police.

The Parma Heights officers claim White smelled of alcohol and refused to take a breathalyzer test upon being booked in the North Royalton Jail. A firearm was also found inside a bag that was sitting in the SUV.

The Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association confirmed to 3News that White is a Cleveland police officer, and offered no further comment other than they would let the court process play out. White currently faces charges of DUI, operating a vehicle without reasonable control, and using weapons while intoxicated.

White is due to appear in Parma Heights Mayor's Court this Thursday.
