Vietnam veteran learns how much his Rolex watch is worth $$$$$$

This is a Rolex Daytona, the most desired model of Rolex.

This is from the prime era for Rolex collectors, one of the most desirable years.

This is the most desirable vintage Paul Newman style dial for the Daytona.

This is a Cosmograph (meaning it has a tachymeter) Daytona Oyster (meaning waterproof for diving). The rarest and most desirable version of this model.

Add up 1-4 and this is the Holy Grail of Rolexes.

Then add:

5. This man never wore the watch. The sticker on the back of the case is still there. He kept it in the bank for decades.

6. He has every document for it including a blank warranty card (which means he never put the serial number on it, these are worth tens of thousands on their own), the receipt from the Vietnam PX he bought it from and even the outer box. Collectors go nuts for this stuff.

7. This guy was in explosive ordinance disposal (EOD) in Vietnam, one of the most stressful, most dangerous and most important jobs in that war. He deserved this win.
