A grandmother in Polk County, Florida, is standing trial for the tragic death of her 7-month-old granddaughter, Uriel, in November 2022. Tracy Nick, 67, faces charges of aggravated manslaughter, and if convicted, she could face 12 to 30 years in prison. According to Tracy, after driving home from lunch with friends, she forgot about the baby in the backseat of her Lexus SUV. It wasn’t until one of her grandsons arrived that she suddenly realized Uriel had been left in the car for hours in 90°F temperatures. Medical examiners later determined that Uriel died from hyperthermia due to the heat. This heartbreaking incident follows the tragic 2021 death of another grandchild, 16-month-old Ezra, who drowned in a nearby pond under Tracy's care. However, the judge has ruled that Ezra’s death cannot be mentioned during this trial.
