The investigation, which began in April 2024, uncovered that the drug trafficking organization Truong was allegedly connected to was involved in distributing various controlled dangerous substances including opioids, high-grade marijuana, THC products, and MDMA. Profits from these drug sales were allegedly used to purchase firearms, some of which were distributed to individuals legally prohibited from possessing them. Truong was charged with transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, unauthorized use of a movable (specifically, a car), and soliciting prostitutes.

The arrests included Truong and six others from Bogalusa, all charged with various drug-related offenses. Truong was released on a $150,000 bond. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill and District Attorney Collin Sims both emphasized the state's zero-tolerance policy for misconduct by public officials, indicating that further investigations into related matters are ongoing.
