Objective: that the brethren may be zealous in serving the Lord

Intro:
Define – zeal/ous/ness ; “vehement desire” – 2Cor. 7:11
Doing chores like an athlete
Zealousness of the Lord - 2Kings 19:31, Isaiah 9:7, Isaiah 37:32; 59:17, Ezekiel 5:13
Notice: in the bible how often zeal is associated with death

Characteristics of a Zealous Servant and his Zeal:
1) Turns Away Wrath – Numbers 25:11
a) It saves!
b) Gives peace - Numbers 25:12
c) Gives lasting blessing/s - Numbers 25:13
d) Heals, solves serious issues/problems - 2Corinthians 7:11
2) Ensures Balance with Boundaries set by Righteousness - 2Samuel 21:2
a) We should know where the boundary lies
b) Acts 21:20 – Jews and Paul compromised
3) On Boards, Attracts People to your cause
a) 2Kings 10:16 – King Jehu
b) 2Corinthians 9:2 – Corinthians
c) Role model for many - Colossians 4:13
4) Visibly Affects and Manifests in the Person
a) Psalms 69:9, Psalms 119:139 - eat, consume
b) John 2:17 – applicable to even the Lord Jesus
5) Strong - Isaiah 63:15
6) It Should be in the Correct Context
a) Directed to the Lord - Acts 22:3
b) According to Knowledge - Romans 10:2
7) Is Should Edify, Build up the church - 1Corinthians 14:12
a) Produce good works - Titus 2:14
