Cockpit video shows Air National Guard plane supporting firefighting efforts in Los Angeles

Footage released by the U.S Department of Defense shows the cockpit view from a C-130J Super Hercules plane as it supported firefighting efforts in Los Angeles on Saturday.

DVIDS said the video shows the plane supporting efforts to contain the Palisades Fire by dropping a line of retardant on the mountains near Pacific Palisades.

DVIDS said the plane, from the Air National Guard's 146th Airlift Wing, was equipped with a Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System.

Firefighters scrambled on Sunday to make further progress against wildfires that have destroyed thousands of homes and killed 16 people in the Los Angeles area as forecasters again warned of dangerous weather with the return of strong winds this week.
