Jamestown Police have released body camera footage from a deadly officer-involved shooting from December 3rd.

It started when Devin Quinn Fontenot, 27, was kicked out of Fred’s Den around 1 a.m.

Surveillance video from the bar shows Fontenot walk to his vehicle, pull out a gun, and start firing shots in the direction of the building. No one was hit, but a worker called 911.

Sgt. Cory Beckman is the first to arrive.

The body camera footage shows Beckman demand Fontenot show him his hands 7 times before Fontenot fires. Beckman continues to make pleas for Fontenot to drop his gun, but he yells back, telling the officer to drop his gun.

After two more shots are fired by Fontenot, Beckan moves around to the other side of the bank drive thru that he was using for protection and radios to other officers who are starting to arrive.

While it’s partially covered in the body camera video, police say at this point Fontenot tried to fire more shots. Beckman again yells for him to drop his weapon for firing several shots himself, hitting the suspect.

Police rendered air at the scene, and Fontenot was taken to a local hospital but died from his injuries.

A BCI investigation determined Sgt. Beckman’s use of force was justified.
