A major wildfire broke out in Los Angeles on January 7. The fire engulfed the coastal neighborhood of Pacific Palisades, an upscale residential area located between Santa Monica and Malibu.

Tens of thousands of Southern California residents were displaced from their homes. The Palisades Fire, caused by high winds and dry conditions, broke out Tuesday morning as a brush fire and had grown to nearly 3,000 acres by Tuesday evening.

The region had earlier declared an extreme fire danger due to high winds and prolonged drought conditions. Meteorologists are predicting even stronger winds in the coming days, with wind speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour.
