Tiramisu rocks, Aktau, Kazakhstan: Kyzylkup Hills, better known as the “Tiramisu Hills” of Mangystau. These striped, dessert-like formations look like they’ve been carved straight from a giant slice of tiramisu, with layers of white, red, and orange that shift colors with the light. Hidden deep in the Kazakh steppe, this surreal landscape feels like a scene from another planet... The Kazakh Steppe is a vast region of open grassland in Central Asia, covering areas in northern Kazakhstan and adjacent areas of Russia... Aktau is a city in south-west Kazakhstan, on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea. Its name, 'white mountain' in Kazakh, may be due to its cliffs that overlook the Caspian.
