The Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, was greeted with deafening booing during her arrival at the port of Cadiz for the farewell ceremony of the training ship Juan Sebastián Elcano, which is setting sail with Princess Leonor on board. Booing and shouts of “Out, out!” dominated the atmosphere from the moment the minister made her appearance, marking an overwhelming contrast with the applause dedicated to the King and Queen of Spain and their first-born.

The discomfort among the attendees was aggravated by the delay of Robles, who arrived late to an event of high symbolic value. This detail further inflamed the public's spirits, who did not hesitate to express their rejection in a thunderous manner. During her formal greeting at the ship's command, the booing continued, leaving the minister visibly uncomfortable and without making any statements.

In contrast, the arrival of the King and Queen and Princess Leonor was received with cheers and applause, in a show of support for the Crown. The presence of the heiress on this historic training ship has been celebrated as a milestone in her military training, strengthening the connection between the Royal Family and the citizens.

This new episode of rejection towards Robles adds to a series of boos that several members of the Government have faced in public events, reflecting the growing social discontent. While the King and Queen and the princess enjoyed the support and admiration of those present, the booing directed at the minister made clear a division in the public sentiment.

The event, which included a mass in the church of Santo Domingo and a procession with the Virgin of the Rosary, brought together more than 1,600 relatives on the dock to say goodbye to the 76 midshipmen who will set sail aboard the Elcano.

We leave you with the booing. But remember to subscribe and give us a like.
