Off-duty Phoenix officer taken to hospital after assault, police say

According to Phoenix police, the officer was working off-duty in the area of 27th Avenue and Indian School Road around 7 p.m. when the incident happened. Police say the suspect approached the officer and challenged him to a fight. The suspect struck the officer before additional officers were called in to assist.
