Ep 752 • The HUMBLE KING vs Pride •

Philippians 2:8 ~ "And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."

The first thing that God [the Word] had to do, in order to become human flesh, was to humble Himself and conquer pride. The pride the caused satan, His arch enemy, to fall from Heaven.

1 Timothy 3:6 ~ "Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil."

Proverbs 16:18-19 ~ "Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall. [19] Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud."

God described all sin into three broad categories:

The Lust of the flesh
The Lust of the eyes
The pride of life

1 John 2:16 ~ "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."

It's reasonable to assume that all sin fits into one of these 3 categories.

James 4:6-7 ~ "But he giveth more grace. Wherefore He saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

1 Peter 5:5b-6 ~ "be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. [6] Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time."

Luke 20:18 ~ "Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder."

Luke 14:11 ~ " For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted."

Matthew 21:4-5 ~ All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, Meek, and sitting upon an ass, And a colt the foal of an ass."

Pride has to hide. It's ability to maintain its place in a human heart, depends largly upon its ability to convince that it doesnt exist. That it actually isn't there.

This is similar to the idea that the greatest accomplishment of the devil, as many have said, is to convince us that he doesn't exist. Like the Keith Green song says: "It's getting very easy now, cuz no one believes In me anymore."

Pride is that way. Once we believe we don't have it, or worse yet, we convince ourselves that it is acceptable, and even laudable, we cannot be made free from it. Without acknowledgment and repentance, it cannot be overcome.

Ask 100 people if they are proud, and likely, 99 of them will say that they are not. We tend not to believe that we are proud people. Yet one thing is sure, because sin is based in pride, and all we are sinners, every single human being likely has some level of pride in them that must be acknowledged and turned away from, in order to be free from it. It is in my opinion, an ongoing, lifelong challenge.

"Pride brings confusion." Thats because pride is the opposite of the Humble King. Humility brings clarity, because we're able to see through the Humble King's eyes. Pride brings confusion, because it is a work of the enemy and distorts our ability to see clearly. When we are proud, we're seeing through the enemy's eyes, and not our Kings.

Q: Have you made Jesus, The Humble King, the literal Lord of your life...or are YOU still the Lord of your life?

That is an eternal question that all men and women must one day answer. Either now while on earth, or once they stand before the Humble King in Heaven.
