Genesis Chapter 37 tells the story of Jacob's son Joseph and his relationship with his brothers. Unfortunately, Jacob shows favoritism toward Joseph and his brothers notice it. It’s obvious early on that Joseph is a special person as he has dreams as young as his teenage years and this will cause him a lot of animosity and later, misfortune from his brothers but his dreams will take him to both high and low depths. The brothers are so envious of Joseph they draw up a plan to get rid of him and this is where all of their lives change. Genesis Chapter 38 illustrates God's covenant promises and how he works for good in the lives of his people. The story also teaches Judah what it means to do right for God's people. This chapter highlights characters such as Judah and Tamar and a new generation of family members that will help usher in the coming Messiah.
