The Noonwraith is a figure from Polish folk beliefs, often depicted as a malicious, demonic spirit or apparition associated with the south. In Slavic culture, she was the personification of the dangers associated with working in the field during the hottest hours of the day, i.e. at noon. It was believed that she appeared to farmers working in the field during the hottest hours and could punish them for working too hard at that time.
