The Pit and the Pendulum (1961)

Directed by Roger Corman, loosely based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story. Set in 16th-century Spain, the film stars Vincent Price as Nicholas Medina, a tormented nobleman haunted by the death of his wife, Elizabeth. When her brother arrives to investigate her mysterious death, dark family secrets and psychological horrors begin to unravel.
