Just one month before the planned release of Assassin's Creed Shadows, Ubisoft has confirmed via the franchise's official account on X that the game will be delayed again—this time from February 14 to March 20, 2025. This marks the second shift in the release date, as the game was initially scheduled for November 15, 2024. According to the company, the decision stems from their commitment to avoiding past mistakes and addressing feedback from the community.

Through its social media channels, Ubisoft explained the reasons for the delay in a post signed by Marc-Alexis Côté, Vice President and Executive Producer of the Assassin’s Creed franchise:

"Since November, we've been thrilled to share our progress through gameplay overviews, and the overwhelming excitement has truly inspired us." Every week, we've received valuable feedback from our community. While we've already made significant strides, we believe a few more weeks are necessary to implement this feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and engaging experience from day one."

The statement reiterated that the decision to delay the launch reflects the team's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience and that maintaining an open dialogue with the community remains key to development. Similar wording was used in the announcement following the game's first delay, leading many to believe that substantial changes are being made to gameplay and story elements. However, this may not be enough to convince the public to buy the game.
