Elderly Man Shows Youngster How To Really Play Basketball

When thinking of the elderly, most people picture many individuals of old age who need assistance and who probably live in nursing homes. It wouldn't be wrong to make that assumption, seeing how many of our elderly loved ones lose a bit of their independence as they climb higher on the age ladder. However, we can't exclude our elders who, despite their age and limitations, are still kicking it like they're back in their twenties. If you don't have a "young" old relative this video will show you just how many tricks old men have up their sleeves. The old man still has it!

Naturally as we age, our bodily functions slowly become less reliable. We don't regenerate as good as we used to when we were young, so most old people nowadays have a lot of problems with their bones and with getting around. This is apparent in the video as the old man is dribbling the ball; he doesn't seem to have as much energy as the young boy behind him. If you were to make an assumption at this point, it would be that the young boy behind the old man would obviously end up stealing the ball from him, and you're not alone in thinking so. The young boy has a lot more energy and movement and the old man doesn't, so it's a logical assumption. However that's where we're all wrong. The old man who seems to be at a disadvantage turns the tables with a little trick up his sleeve and wins the game.

Carefully, the old man backs up behind the boy, keeping his guard over the ball until he's close to the basket. The young boy seemingly underestimates the old man, so he doesn't seem as alert as he should be. Maybe he's making the same assumption as some of you. What does an old man have against a boy full of energy and youth? Quite a lot! The young boy allows the old man to get as close to the basketball hoop as possible with the intention to immediately shut him down, but then something very clever happens. Knowing that he probably wouldn't be able to dunk, the old man tries a better method called deception. In one swoop, the old man sets the ball down on the concrete, quickly turns around, and pretends to shoot the ball at the hoop! The young boy, who was behind him, falls for the trick very easily, and while he's confused, the old man takes his chance and takes a real shot. Everyone on the court goes wild as they were not expecting such a feat.

As the old man proudly walks off, he also gives a high-five to one of the other boys on the court. What an exit! A few of the boys, as well as the camera man, become bewildered and can't help but cheer and run around. Hopefully this event will teach them not to underestimate old people. Because while old people may lack the strength and stamina that young people have, it doesn't mean that they don't have way more knowledge and wisdom to steal the show. Perhaps if you ask one of your old relatives about something they will teach you something you would have never guessed they knew in the first place!
