During active offensive operations, units of the "Southern" group of troops completely liberated the city of KURAKHOVO - the largest settlement in the southwestern part of Donbass

Over the course of ten years, the Kiev regime has turned it into a powerful fortified area with a developed network of permanent fire points and underground communications. From the north, it is covered by a reservoir, which significantly limited the maneuverability of Russian assault units. To defend the city, the enemy has amassed large forces, including nationalist formations and foreign mercenaries, reinforced with artillery and tanks. Among them are units of the elite 79th airborne assault and 46th airmobile brigades, as well as 5 heavy, 33rd and 157th mechanized brigades. In total, the Ukrainian Armed Forces command concentrated 26 battalions with a total strength of over 15 thousand military personnel.

As a result of the professional actions of Russian troops during the liberation of Kurakhovo, the enemy lost 80% of its personnel (more than 12 thousand people), about 3 thousand units of various weapons and military equipment, including 40 tanks and other combat armored vehicles. During the two months of military operations near Kurakhovo, the daily losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces averaged between 150 and 180 servicemen killed and wounded. Establishing control over this important logistics hub has significantly complicated the rear and technical support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in the Donetsk direction, depriving the Kiev regime of the opportunity to fire artillery systems at the civilian population of Donetsk, the capital of the DPR.

After taking KURAKHOVO, Russian troops entered operational space. This will allow increasing the pace of liberation of the territory of the Donetsk People's Republic. The servicemen of the 5th and 110th motorized rifle brigades particularly distinguished themselves by displaying courage and heroism during the liberation of the city of KURAKHOVO.
