The Manhattan DA’s office said they do not oppose the unconditional discharge. If Trump did face any penalty, he could be ordered to pay up to $170,000 in fines, based on a maximum $5,000 fine for each of his 34 counts—though other punishments, like probation, would likely be logistically difficult given his impending presidency.
