By 1:32 p.m., the suspects had already made their mark with reckless maneuvers, including a sudden U-turn at Clime Road and River Bend Road. A Columbus police cruiser collided with the Hyundai during this maneuver, crushing the passenger-side door and deploying the airbags. The chase didn’t stop there.

Despite visible damage to the vehicle, the teens continued their desperate flight through the Hilltop neighborhood and back onto Clime Road. Officers deployed spike strips in an attempt to stop them, but the driver narrowly avoided them. The pursuit intensified as the Hyundai drove through a shopping center parking lot and back onto the road, where an officer rammed the rear of the vehicle, sending the bumper flying. Even after spinning out and colliding with another police cruiser, the suspects managed to escape momentarily.

The chase reached a chaotic climax near a construction site on Eakin Road, where officers lost sight of the vehicle on a dirt road. Finally, near West Mound Street, a skilled officer executed a PIT maneuver, sending the Hyundai crashing into a tree. This marked the end of the dangerous pursuit, and both teens were taken into custody.

The suspects, known for prior involvement with stolen vehicles, are now being held in juvenile detention. Prosecutors emphasized the growing issue of stolen cars in Franklin County and the community risks associated with incidents like this one.
