I used to read so many words printed on a page...
now I’m denied that pleasure – all I have is rage.
I used to watch the pictures flicker on a screen...
now I try to remember all I’ve ever seen.
I sit alone in here. No-one hears my cries,
screaming at the darkness as my vision dies.
I used to open each new book and wonder what I’d find
but I can’t do that anymore now I’m going blind...

There are so many books that I would love to read
but that’s all over now. I think we’re all agreed.
There are so many films I would love to see
but that’s another pleasure now denied to me.
I used to stare up at the sky and study blades of grass...
now I peer pathetically through frosted glass.
I know I should be decent. I know I should be kind
but I have no time for that now I’m going blind...
going blind...going blind...going blind.
