Mexico Vs Trump: President Sheinbaum Responds With "Mexican America" Lesson US President-Elect

Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum on January 8 suggested North America including the United States could be renamed "Mexican America", a historic name used on an early map of the region, in response to the US President-elect Donald Trump's pledge to rename the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America." Sheinbaum, while pointing at the map from 1607 showing an early portrayal of North America said "Mexican America, that sounds nice." Despite the ongoing back and forth with Donald Trump ahead of his presidential inauguration on January 20, Sheinbaum said that she expected the two countries to have a positive relationship.
