A wildfire fueled by extreme winds swept through Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles, on Tuesday, damaging homes and prompting evacuation orders for 30,000 residents.

Roads were clogged with fleeing residents, many abandoning their vehicles and escaping on foot.

The fire, which started in the morning during a Santa Ana windstorm, quickly spread, threatening over 13,000 structures.

California Governor Gavin Newsom visited the area and declared a state of emergency, warning that the worst winds were yet to come.

Power outages affected 28,300 households, and multiple fires were reported across the region, the Associated Press has reported.
