Flower lovers flock to U-pick Springville farm

Mother Nature can't take all the credit for that splash of color on Route 240 in Springville, N.Y. Ellen Krzemien started growing flowers for her home staging business a few years ago and began selling the extras at her dad's vegetable stand. The way Ellen tells the story "they started selling out, and I started getting calls from brides and showers so I said to my husband why don't we just open the field and let them pick their own." The Flower Stand now attracts carloads of customers,  Ellen has carefully nurtured over a hundred varieties of flowers. Before she turns you lose in her garden she passes on a few cutting tips. Ellen was one of the recipients of the 43 Ignite Buffalo Grant Competition and she has plans to use the money to expand her business.
