Tibet Earthquake Kills 95, Hundreds Injured
Welcome back to Aam News.

A powerful earthquake has struck Tibet, claiming the lives of at least 95 people and injuring hundreds more, authorities confirmed today. The tremor, measuring 7.1 on the Richter scale, hit the region early on Sunday morning, causing widespread damage and triggering panic in the affected areas.
The earthquake’s epicenter was located near the city of Nyingchi, close to the border with India, and was felt across large parts of Tibet and neighboring regions. Rescue operations are underway, with emergency teams working tirelessly to reach remote villages that have been cut off by landslides triggered by the quake. Local officials have warned that the death toll is likely to rise as search-and-rescue teams access more affected areas.
Hospitals in the region are overwhelmed with injured victims, many of whom have sustained broken bones, head injuries, and fractures. Medical teams from across Tibet are being mobilized to assist, and additional resources are being brought in from nearby provinces.
The earthquake has also caused significant infrastructure damage, with many roads, buildings, and power lines either severely damaged or completely destroyed. Thousands of people have been left without shelter, and authorities are working to provide emergency accommodation and supplies.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed his condolences to the victims and promised swift assistance. In a statement, he called for national solidarity in response to the disaster and assured that all resources would be deployed to aid in the recovery efforts.
Tibet, located on a seismically active region, has experienced devastating earthquakes in the past. However, the scale of this disaster is unprecedented in recent memory. Experts are calling for improved preparedness and infrastructure to better withstand future tremors.
As the region begins to recover, the focus remains on saving lives, providing medical care, and restoring critical infrastructure. The full extent of the damage and the number of casualties are expected to become clearer in the coming days as rescue operations continue.
Tibetans and international aid groups have already begun mobilizing efforts to provide support to the victims. A global call for donations and assistance is anticipated as the full scale of the crisis unfolds.
