New Orleans terror attack: What really caused a former U.S. soldier to commit mass murder?

In the early hours of New Years Day, Shamsud-Din Jabbar used a rented Tesla truck to mow down revellers on the famed Bourbon Street in central New Orleans. He killed fourteen people and injured dozens of others.

Jabbar was born in the United States and raised in Texas. He was a U.S. citizen. He served in the U.S. military for 13 years (from 2007 to 2020) and was stationed in Afghanistan for eleven months.

Law enforcement officials allege that Jabbar recently became “inspired” by Islamic State writings that he had read online. They say these writings “radicalized” Jabbar. At the same time, police do *not* claim that Jabbar was funded, trained, armed or directed by Islamic State, nor do they claim that Jabbar was a member of Islamic State.

So what really caused Jabbar to commit this atrocity?

In a discussion with Reason2Resist correspondent Rami Yahia, Dimitri Lascaris examines the flaws in the official narrative about what happened in New Orleans.
