The first in the country! China Meteorological Administration's Sea Fog Intelligent Observation Labo
The first in the country! The China Meteorological Administration's Sea Fog Intelligent Observation Laboratory was unveiled on Hikvision on January threerd, marking the first national sea fog intelligent observation experiment. Bi Baogui, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the China Meteorological Administration, Zhang Hongzheng, Deputy Director of the Forecasting Department, and Guo Xuefei, Deputy Director of the Planning and Finance Department; Miao Changming, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Zhejiang Meteorological Bureau, Pan Jinsong, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director, and Zhou Chunyu, Director of the Forecasting Department; Hu Yangzhong, Chairman of Hikvision, Huang Fanghong, Senior Vice President, Chen Jiguo, Vice President, and Wang Yingjie, Vice President and President of Government Business Department, attended the ceremony. This is the "Key Open Laboratory for Intelligent Observation of Sea Fog of China Meteorological Administration" (hereinafter referred to as the "Laboratory") jointly established by Zhejiang Provincial Meteorological Administration and Hikvision under the guidance of China Meteorological Administration. Both parties will innovate and develop meteorological observation products based on technologies such as IoT perception, artificial intelligence, and big data, enhance marine meteorological service capabilities, monitor and analyze the occurrence, development, and dissipation of sea fog, ensure the safety of maritime activities, improve the efficiency of transportation, industry, fishery production, and provide basic data for climate research. Sea fog is a silent marine disaster. The coastline shrouded in sea fog is beautiful, but for ships sailing on the sea, it is a "beautiful danger" - significantly reduced visibility can easily cause ships sailing on the sea to deviate from their course, leading to stranding or collisions, and even affecting activities such as fishing and offshore oil and gas development. It is reported that since its establishment, the laboratory has developed a single photon radar for sea fog observation. This product can "see" the distribution of thick fog even in severe weather, thereby ensuring the safety of sea lanes and ports. Currently, it has been applied in Zhoushan Port, Ningbo Port, Taizhou Dachen Port and other places, providing meteorological assistance for local marine disaster prevention and reduction, ecological protection and economic and social development. ▲ Single Photon Radar for Observing Sea Fog by the Sea, Image Provided by Zhejiang Provincial Meteorological Bureau ▲ "Sea fog is an important factor threatening the safety of maritime activities, and strengthening observation and forecasting is a key support for ensuring high-quality development of the marine economy," said Bi Baogui, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the China Meteorological Administration. It is understood that the characteristics of sea fog are rapid generation and disappearance, strong locality, sometimes wide coverage, thick thickness, and long duration, and sometimes uneven distribution and rapid changes. For example, there is a lot of fog on Mount Putuo in Zhoushan, but the sky at Shenjiamen is clear for thousands of miles, and the distance between the two is only a short ten minute journey. Sea fog not only changes rapidly, but also poses great harm. According to statistics, sixty% to seventy% of maritime vessel accidents are caused by sea fog. Encountering foggy weather in Shanghai can not only cause tourists to be stranded, but also result in a large amount of goods piling up at the port. Therefore, for marine related industries, it is very important to make scientific decisions through accurate sea fog monitoring data. Compared to traditional site based visibility devices, single photon radar for sea fog observation has a wider monitoring range and can successfully capture the entire process of sea fog formation, diffusion, and dissipation, providing real-time visibility information for the entire range. Chen Jiguo, laboratory director and vice president of Hikvision, introduced that this product uses the one thousand five hundred and fiftynm infrared band that is harmless to the human eye, which is not only safer, but also has stronger fog transmission ability, and performs better than traditional radar in adverse weather conditions.
