Brok The Investigator | A Dystopian Detective Adventure

Hello Im Skill Incarnate and Welcome to My Games Review Series.
My reviews cover indie games that i have bought, had gifted to me and have been provided by developers for review. In this episode I check out the popular Adventure Game called Brok The Investigator on the PlayStation. This game was developed and published by Cowcat, who also produced another Adventure Game called Demetrios: The Big Cynical Adventure on Steam

Brok The Investigator is set in a Dystopian Future, where animals have replaced humans. The population is split between the Drummers, who are the wealthy elite class, living in a high tech city called the Dome, and the Slummers, the downtrodden commoners who struggle to survive in the surrounding wasteland. The Game follows Brok, an Alligator Detective with a violent past, and his adopted son Graff, a young cat and a brilliant scholar. Brok struggles to make a living, taking on a series of cases throughout the Slums and the Drums, whilst Graff undergoes a series of tests, which will determine whether he can become a citizen of the Dome. The father and son become embroiled in a plot involving a bioweapon which threatens the lives of everyone they care for. The relationships that you develop and the decisions you make throughout your adventure will decide which of the games many endings that you recieve.

The game combines traditional Point and Click Adventure Mechanics along with classic Side Scrolling Beatemup Action. However the greatest strength of this game is in the narrative, with a compelling story and interesting characters which are fully voice acted. There is also a huge variety of puzzles to solve, which provide a challenge to even veteran players. The Beatemup mechanics werent as polished, with some clunky controls and a limited moveset, but thankfully are not a major focus of the game and can largely be skipped.

If your looking to purchase Brok as a Beatemup game, then you may want to look elsewwhere. But I recommend Brok The Investigator for fans of old school Point And click Adventures like Sam And Max and Full Throttle, or Puzzle Game enthusiasts looking for a challenging experience.
