Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to announce his resignation as leader of the Liberal Party as early as today. According to Canadian media.
Trudeau has been the leader of the Liberal Party for 11 years, and Prime Minister for nine. He’s facing growing pressure from his own party’s lawmakers to step down and faces numerous crisis from the resignation of key allies, disastrous opinion polls and tariff threats from President Donald Trump.
Trudeau is widely expected to lose the general election that will be held later this year, with his resignation being seen as the Prime Minister choosing to leave before being pushed out.
