*Frankfurt gorillas enjoy an incredible buffet spread filled with tomatoes, leeks, and more! Watch as Viatu, Rebecca, and the rest of the troop feast on their favourite foods.*

This is the Frankfurt Zoo gorilla troop.
Silverback Viatu walking upright towards his rock. Tomatoes and leek in hand. From my experience Tomatoes are definitely a top favourite food of Gorillas. Gorilla Rebecca is watching him and then backs off. Viatu starts on the leeks, when Arco things it's OK to have a morsel next to him, but Viatu tells him to back off. Arco takes a German turnip (Kohlrabi) instead. There are three visible areas the gorillas have. One very big area. This area where Viatu and Arco is in and a huge outdoors. They have free access to all most of the times, only during cleaning and so on they get shuffled around. On the other site you see Wela coming from the small area into the big area. You might recognize her from the pumpkin footage I released at Halloween. In that big area they've got onions, leeks, herbs, beetroots, lettuces, Squashes, salsify ( the long black things, they are white inside, not widely available in the UK, but in Germany the Schwarzwurzel is quite popular. Do you get them in the US? ) . The mangabey has a great big onion. I missed most of the other gorillas on that site as I was watching Viatu. They tend to take their food and go up to what looks a bridge between the small and big area.

As I was there two days running, the next footage where they all come out from the back is from the second day. I got to witness another amazing buffet full of all sorts of food to choose from. Probably one of the best spreads I have seen. They are so lucky to have such a variety of foods, it's quite amazing. On this day they got broccoli, fennel, bell peppers, squashes, food pellets. Lots of tomatoes and much more. The pumpkin still in one piece, if you haven't seen the pumpkin footage at Halloween you can watch it here: https://youtu.be/LiUajsDDayg

Most grab their food to go up to the "bridge".
Gorilla Xetsa now in the big area is looking for food in a waterfilled bucket. She does remind me a little of Afia from the Bristol zoo, with the stern look.
Gorilla Rebecca and N'gambe with a red pepper and a tomato in her mouth. The mangabay with a green bell pepper and Wela taking her bed to the "Bridge"
