In 1953 residents of Bridgeview, Surrey in BC where promised sewer lines. This part of the Fraser River, just across from the original capital, New Westminster was originally a resource area. The first industries in the late 19th century was fishing, and then in the early 20th century was logging, to clear the area.

By the post World War 2 era there was no urban plan for this area. Thus, industry and residential housing sprung up and by the mid 1950s where in a clash. The residents wanted sewer lines as the flat, riverbed sediment area was prone to flooding.

By the 1970s and 80s Surrey still had no urban plan.

By the 1990s once SkyTrain reached this area (Scott Road SkyTrain Station), the drugs and crime from downtown Vancouver could reach Bridgeview within 30 min.

By the year 2000 Bridgeview would be know for it's strip club along King George Highway and its many "crack houses". These drug dens, many of which are featured in this video when they still where inhabited by families before they become crack houses, would be places where transients would get high, and local prostitutes would flop onto the couch or mattress to rest from walking in Whalley all night just up the road and up the hill.
