Jesus’ ‘Battle’ of Faith Overcomes the Myth-Culture’s Defeat – Mark 10:46–11:33

In this brief excerpt from the course, Jesus and Myth, Dr. Barber discusses how Jesus engages in His unique 'battle' of faith in His Father God in Heaven, deferring to His Father's will that He march sturdily onward in the Way of the Cross.

In doing this, Jesus uniquely subverts and inverts the pattern of myth-culture in which all of the rest of us walk. We walk in the way of sinners, Jesus alone in the way of divine perfection.

While Jesus defers to the Father's will, engaged in the 'battle' of faith, the fake spiritual and political leaders of Israel instead engage striving to ensnare Jesus, and instead experience the expected defeat of those who walk in myth's pattern.
