Note: all tracks recorded under the names Academy 23 or UNIT are the property of DNA Records and protected by copyright, regardless of who wrote the works concerned. This is a track from the free EP that accompanies our 50th album ‘E Pluribus Unum’. It is our arrangement of the famous Jewish folk song written in 1918 that became a major success when covered by Harry Belafonte. It was later recorded by Simon Dupree & The Big Sound (4 members of whom later morphed into Gentle Giant, the greatest progressive rock group ever) for the ‘a’ side of their final single in 1969. Sadly it was never issued thus people were denied that and its purely instrumental ‘b’ side called Homeland. I elected not to sing the vocal version because I quickly discovered my pronunciation of Hebrew is an abomination. Features Akira Ishii – Flute.

Music – Moshe Nathanson. Arrangement – UNIT.

If you are interested in the work of 2 earlier groups, The Apostles (1982-1989) and Academy 23 (1990-1997), each related to certain members of UNIT, their complete recorded works can now be found on our Bit Chute channel. Type Bit Chute Andy Martin to locate it.
