"Sympathy for the Devil" is a song by English rock band “The Rolling Stones”.

The song was written by Mick Jagger and credited to the Jagger–Richards partnership.

It is the opening track on the band's 1968 album “Beggars Banquet”.

The inspiration for this hellish detour came from Soviet writer Mikhail Bulgakov's novel “The Master and Margarita”, which depicts Satan having his way in 1930s Moscow.
