There are several ways to find out your blood group, including:
Donating blood: You can learn your blood type when you donate blood. The test is quick and only requires a few drops of blood from your finger.
Asking your doctor: Your doctor may have your blood type on record.
Asking your parents: Your parents may know your blood type or have old health records that include it.
Ordering a blood test: You can order a blood test online and have it done at a CLIA-approved laboratory. You can also request a blood typing test from your doctor, but you may have to pay out-of-pocket.
Buying an at-home blood test kit: You can buy a kit to determine your blood type at home.
Blood types are determined by the presence or absence of two antigens, A and B, on the surface of red blood cells. There is also an Rh factor protein that can be present (+) or absent (-), creating eight common blood types:
A+, A, B+, B, O+, O, AB+, and AB.
Blood types are inherited from biological parents.
