Man tries to attack a Burlington officer with a needle

A man from Springfield, Vermont, is facing several charges after police said he attacked an officer in Burlington and tried to stab the officer with a needle.

This happened Monday morning during a routine patrol near North Union Street and North Winooski Avenue.

Police say Aaron Montgomery had an active arrest warrant, so the officer tried to take him into custody.

That's when Montgomery took off, and the officer chased after him.

Montgomery tried to stab the officer with the needle to get away, and more officers were called for backup. Body cam video released by the department show Montgomery trying to remove the needle from his pocked as the officer wrestles it away.

Police said Montgomery tried to kick them, spit on them, and bite them.

He's facing charges for aggravated assault, resisting arrest, assault on a law enforcement officer, and disorderly conduct.
