10 Dead, Many Injured as Truck Rams Into Crowd in New Orleans | Vantage With Palki Sharma

At least 10 people were killed and more than 30 others injured when a truck deliberately plowed into a crowd on Canal and Bourbon Street in New Orleans' French Quarter early Wednesday morning, city officials reported. Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick confirmed that the driver intentionally targeted the crowd around 3:15 a.m. "This man was trying to run over as many people as he could," Kirkpatrick said. Kirkpatrick further added, "He was hell bent on creating the carnage and damage that he did." After crashing, the driver fired at police officers, injuring two. With more than 300 officers on duty at the time, the FBI has taken over the investigation into the attack. A suspected improvised explosive device has been found at the crime scene. The FBI said in a statement that they are "working with partners to investigate this as an act of terrorism". The driver died after exchanging gunfire with responding police officers, the FBI said. The suspect was struck by police fire and declared dead at the scene.
