Text: 1 Peter 4

Objective: that the brethren may be Rejoice in the Lord only not in much revelings

Intro:
Define – reveling, joy/rejoicing
Review past sermons re Christmas etc.

How to Avoid Revelings and rather enjoy and rejoice in the Lord:
1) Realize the Fact that the Lord Jesus Himself did abstain from Revelings on the earth – v.1 - suffered for us in the flesh
a) Like we should be ready and like-minded also – v.2
2) Consider yourself past that type of indulgence – v.3 – “suffice us”
3) Don’t be afraid to be different – v.4 – “think it strange”
4) Remember that the Lord will judge eventually – the good and the bad – vv.5-6 – “give account”
a) Consider also the brevity of life and therefore the time we need to endure “this” –v.7
5) Enjoy rather the Lord and His work/ways – vv. 8-19
a) Joy/enjoy, rejoice verses in the bible points to the Lord not some worldly affairs

Message/conclusion:

Let us Rejoice in the Lord only not in much revelings
