The water leak alarm, priced at a modest $19.99 before discounts or taxes
forms a part of the subscription free Mocreo home monitoring system and requires the Mocreo Hub and Mocreo Smart app to function. Take note that it cannot be used as a stand alone device.

In the rather plain box, I received the battery/Transmitter, 1M Probe Cable, Velcro Mount, USB Cable, Reset Pin, and a well written and easy to read user guide. Build quality all seems first-rate, as I have found with all Mocreo products.

The unit consists of a combined battery pack and transmitter with a water detection probe on a 1M cable plugged into the top face of transmitter unit. On the front is a speaker grill, on the rear is a Velcro mount. On the side in a grommet protected bay are the micro-USB and reset ports with next to it the aperture for the external probe.

The device features a built-in 1800 mAh battery, charged through the micro USB port, with a battery charging status LED. One charge should last up to two years and the current level can be shown in the app. An alert will be made when the battery level falls below 10%.

Configuration is very simple. With the Mocreo Hub online, open the Mocreo Smart app on your phone and follow the procedure to add a new device, selecting the SW2 water sensor option. Plug the probe into the sensor and press the pin into the reset hole to set the device into setup mode with the blue LED flashing. The app will then find the sensor and register it to your Mocrfeo account. You can then configure it how you wish and optionally use the hub to select it to display on the hub screen.

Although the probe of course is waterproof, the battery case is not, so be sure to position it above the level of any suspected water leak. The sticky backed velcro mount can be used to secure the case whilst allowing it to be removed for charging.

The app can be used to collect and store events detected by the sensor for up to a two year period which can then be exported as you wish. You can configure water detection alerts to sound from the monitor and the hub with an app push notification and a follow up email. The monitoring alert can be set to always on or to a schedule.

My only criticism is that the battery case is not magnetic, which restricts where and how it can be mounted. Actually, I do have one more criticism and that is that the Mocreo ecosystem will not connect to Alexa or Google Home.

For users of the Mocreo ecosystem, this is an inexpensive addition to your network, that is simple to fit, works well and provides you with peace of mind and a dry floor.
