San Diego, California, is expanding its homeless campground after some local officials determined the initiative had been a success.

This would be a much better idea if the campground was on an island in the ocean.

The homeless tent city currently has 541 tents but will now be increasing to nearly 800 tents as the city has been operating under budget.

There are currently two lots. Lot O will cost taxpayers $22.4 million for up to four years of operations. Lot B will cost taxpayers $9 million for up to five years of operations.

Four individuals have died at the campgrounds, with one man overdosing on fentanyl.

His body was not discovered until two days later.
