Stanley, after a drunken poker game with his friends, gets into an argument with his wife, Stella, and beats her. His friends pull Stanley away and toss him into a running shower. After he leaves the apartment and is on the street, in his remorse, Stanley yells this famous line up to Stella in an attempt to be forgiven.
