Gen 28 -The dream is going to assure Jacob that the blessings of Abraham are going to go through him

Gen 28:1
So Isaac called Jacob and blessed him and charged him, and said to him, “You shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan.

Now if you recall in the last chapter, Jacob hightailed it. It says in the King James Version, Isaac called for Jacob; it could be that Jacob was in hiding, and I would suspect that's probably the case. Esau, his brother, wanted to kill him. Isaac had blessed Jacob, and this confirms Jacob’s title to the birthright, regardless of the deception involved, and it says here, you shall not take a wife from the daughters of Canaan. Isaac gave Jacob the same command that Abraham gave to his servant, for Isaac regarding him seeking a wife for Isaac.

Gen 28:12
And he had a dream, and behold, a ladder was set on the earth with its top reaching to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

This ladder was probably more like a stairway, the dream is going to assure Jacob that the blessings of Abraham are going to go through him. Remember, that's been the controversy up to now. Jacob is going to get the birthright and the blessing from Esau, it was done a little bit deceptively, but this this dream is going to assure him, this vision is going to assure him the blessings will come threw him. Scripture often call’s Elohim the Elohim of Abraham Isaac and Jacob.

Exodus 3:13-16
Then Moses said to God, “Behold, I am going to the sons of Israel, and I shall say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you.’ Now they may say to me, ‘What is His name?’ What shall I say to them?” 14And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” 15And God, furthermore, said to Genesis Moses, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations. Now Yeshua seems to tell us that Jacobs dream here, his vision, is a picture of Him.

John 1:51
And He said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you shall see the heavens opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”

What did he mean by that? What He's saying, is that He's the only way to the Father, Messiah is the only way to the Father.

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me.
