At least 10 tornadoes touched down in the southeastern U.S. states of Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi on Saturday (December 28), leaving at least one person dead near Houston, the National Weather Service and local law enforcement said.

A severe tornado in Crockett, Texas brought down trees and power lines and ripped parts of the roof of a clinic located near a nursing home. Heavy rainfall caused significant flooding and caused a water pipe to burst, further raising water levels and creating hazardous conditions for drivers and residents.

Heavy storms and overcast skies were also seen over Galveston Bay in Dickinson, Texas where the powerful weather system unleashed heavy rains and lightning over the Texas Gulf Coast.
