DIY Damascus Steel at Home using basic household ingredients, like Mustard, Coffee & Baking Soda

How to etch Damascus Steel in your kitchen? Well, it is actually easier than you think. All you need is just a couple of basic household ingredients - like mustard, coffee, baking soda, and maybe a tiny splash of olive oil.

So, first and foremost, let’s submerge our Damascus bead in a spoonful of generic storebought mustard - for about 5 hours. Clean it! Then comes a bath in some delicious low-quality instant coffee, that happens overnight. Then “a few moments later” we clean the bead again to stop the etching with a quick rinse in some baking soda.

And then voila, we got ourselves a stunning Damascus bead full of contrast. To make it real shiny, we can also polish it up using a kitchen cloth with some extra virgin olive oil, and now it is ready to be attached to a lanyard.
