Posted • December 29, 2024: United States homelessness surges over 18% in 2024 according to federal officials. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development says that 770,000 people are homeless under President Biden. The surge comes after 2023 also saw a massive increase of 12%. “No American should face homelessness, and the Biden-Harris Administration is committed to ensuring every family has access to the affordable, safe, and quality housing they deserve,” HUD Agency Head Adrianne Todman said. Some causes for the surge include the illegal immigrant crisis and fallout from natural disasters.
