“Shut Up” German Minister Mocked After Report Says Berlin Cannot Intercept Russian Oreshnik
Germany's Foreign Ministry has concluded that the country's air defences are unable to protect against Russia's Oreshnik missile, with no operational weapons to counter such threats. The US-made Patriot system is not effective against the missile, which can carry nuclear warheads and travels at ten times the speed of sound. The Israeli-made Arrow system, which Germany ordered, could potentially address this gap. Belarus' President Lukashenko is planning to deploy 10 Oreshnik missile systems with Russian support, potentially by 2025. Meanwhile, reports suggest the missile was developed using Western technology, with equipment from German and Japanese companies appearing in Russian missile production despite sanctions. Despite mass production plans, Russia reportedly has only a small number of Oreshniks.
